Hard, wet rock depends heavily on rubber compound and contact geometry, not only deep lugs. Ice and hard snow may require traction devices; ordinary hiking tread is no guarantee against slipping.

Cushioning and underfoot protection
Cushioning can improve comfort, but more is not automatically better. A very soft or high midsole may feel less precise to some hikers on uneven ground. Stability comes from heel hold, platform width, torsional behaviour, sole geometry, lacing and the hiker's control. A higher collar may offer warmth, debris protection and a feeling of support, but it is not a universal guarantee against ankle injury.

Water-resistant footwear resists some water penetration for limited exposure. It may cope with damp grass, light rain or brief splashes, depending on construction and condition. It should not be assumed to keep feet dry through prolonged rain or deep water.

Hemp

Recycled textiles and rubber
Recycled polyester can be used in uppers, linings or laces, and recycled rubber in soles. Percentage, source and placement matter. The Recycled Claim Standard verifies recycled input and chain of custody; it is not a complete environmental or performance assessment.
